Welcome
Thank you for considering graduate study at St. Bonaventure University. SBU has a long and proud history of providing quality graduate level education. Our first master's degree programs were offered in the 1920s.
Today, the University serves 460 graduate students in over 20 master's degree and certificate programs offered through our School of Arts & Science, School of Business, School of Education, School of Franciscan Studies and the Russell J. Jandoli School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
The School of Graduate Studies supports the mission, values and vision of St. Bonaventure University - a commitment reflected in the academic and spiritual context of the University's graduate programs.
The quality of our programs is confirmed by outside evaluators
The School of Education is accredited by NCATE (National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education).
The School of Business is accredited by AACSB (Association for the Advancement of Collegiate Schools of Business).
These endorsements confirm that SBU academic programs meet rigorous standards for curriculum, faculty credentials and learning resources.
Our students come from a diversity of backgrounds and undergraduate colleges. A partial list of "sending colleges" can be found at the bottom of this page.
Programs available at two sites
St. Bonaventure University graduate programs are offered on the main campus near Olean, N.Y., and at the University's Buffalo Center, located on the Hilbert College campus in Hamburg (south of Buffalo).
Olean-based classes are offered during the day or (mostly) at night, while the Buffalo Center employs a unique five-week weekend format. Most Buffalo programs allow students to start in the fall (see the note below), while many Olean programs allow a spring, fall or even summer session start.
New hybrid program offers online coursework
SBU's School Building Leader Advanced Certificate program is now being offered on a "hybrid" basis. Each class will meet 3-4 times per semester, with the rest of the class work completed online.
The class meeting location will alternate, by semester, between the SBU campus in Olean, NY, and the Buffalo Center in Hamburg. The SBL program meets New York state course requirements for School Building Leader certification and can be completed in four semesters.
